Westside Gunn

Since putting on his first Heels Have Eyes event in Philadelphia concurrent with WrestleMania XL back in April 2024, hip-hop impresario Westside Gunn has fashioned himself into a full-blown pro-wrestling promoter. That should come as no surprise to the Griselda Records faithful, who’ve followed his WWE-indebted lyricism and kayfabe-derived cover art all these years. Roughly one year later, on the eve of a much buzzed-about Las Vegas installment, he drops this EP-length release that links to his 4th Rope brand.

Following the secular gospel opener “FISHSCALE FRIDAY,” he slips into Flygod mode for the rugged boom-bap reboot “EINSTEIN KITCHEN.” Stripped of the guest list that hopped into the ring on the preceding 12, he appears to holler even louder over the choral soul of the Harry Fraud-produced “GORO.” Helmed by Denny Laflare, the piano-driven “DAVEY BOY SMITH” nods to a long-departed Hall of Famer while Gunn rattles off a referential barrage.
